3T sponsored riders can choose any aerobar they want. The one they go for is the Vola LTD Aerobar. It’s light, its stiff, more importantly; it’s super-adjustable and lets them get into that wind-tunnel-perfected low tuck.

You might not have a wind tunnel at your disposal, but thanks to the adjustability of the Vola LTD, you can find that fast, comfy spot fairly easily.

As with any system, the foundation is really important. That’s why 3T designed a 38cm wide (measured center-to-center), wing-shaped, high-modulus carbon base bar. It presents very little to the wind, but it still offers a comfortable hand position, easy threading of cables and wires, and a stiff mounting point for the extensions. The hand rests have a reach of 147.5mm from the front tip of the bullhorns to the centerline of the 31.8mm handlebar clamp.

The carbon-fiber S-bend extensions mount to clamps that are shaped for aerodynamics and go through the base bar. The extensions, based on a standard 22.2mm diameter, are 335mm long uncut and can be customized by cutting them down from the back. The front of the S-bend is 40mm higher than the back. The plugs are molded for cables to go through the middle.

The bars can rise from the base bar, starting at 30mm, but can be stacked as high as 97mm, using the included spacers. The armrests can be moved in to 220mm between the two to 340mm.

The armrests themselves are so light and minimal that 3T designed an aero bridge that spans the distance between the armrests. This stiffens up the system, and is necessary for optimal reliability. They are also flexible in terms of where you place them. They can be in front of the clamp, behind the clamp, tilted in or out, or straight ahead.

The system, with no spacers, and the extensions at full length, weighs as little as 750g for the base bar and armrests and extensions.
