Product Description

Bell designed their Z20 Mips helmet to be everything you want in a skid lid. It’s aero. It’s well-vented. It fits well on the head. It has a Mips liner that integrates with the secondary retention system. It even fits sunglasses well.

Aero helmets aren’t always vented helmets. But Bell wanted both in the same item. They adjusted their classic shape so it sits a bit lower around the head and a bit closer as well. The tail is truncated and a bit more round than the tail fins of yesteryear. At the same time, they designed 18 vents, with the front vents starting quite low and flowing around the helmet to generous exhaust vents.

Sweat is always a factor, no matter how vented a helmet is. Bell worked on their brow pad design as well. They figured out a way to install a slim, light Sweat Guide that moves sweat in the X-Static and XT-2 pads away from over your eyes to then drain out on the sides of your head, keeping your eyes free of the annoying, distracting sweat burn.

Between the pads and the helmet is Bell’s Mips liner. It’s integrated with their secondary retention system and they call it Float Fit Race. It’s a soft, sliding bucket that is adjustable for height, width, and tension, keeping the helmet secure on your head with no hot spots or squeezes, a touch that is so low-pressure you’ll barely notice it.

The helmet’s EPS foam has also been designed for greater safety and less weight. Bell deploys multiple foam densities inside the microshell, to better protect from impact with no impact on weight. They call it Progressive Layering and it also allowed Bell to create a more compact shape that is still well-vented.

Bell also worked on the straps. Thin straps are everywhere, but an easy-to-adjust system for getting the straps to join below the earlobe isn’t. Some have even given up on this. Bell hasn’t. They’ve improved here as well. No-Twist Tri-Glides adjust easily and quickly and help keep the straps flat and well-positioned and tensioned; a floppy strap means a helmet isn’t secure or stable.

For a final touch, they added color options. Now you can easily coordinate or complement your kit or your bike or just add some flash and style or mute it, depending on your fashion whims.

The Bell Z20 Mips-Equipped Helmet is the road helmet that is both practical and stylish.
