It weighs 820g, painted, in a size 53. It’s for riders who weigh 85kg (187lbs) or less. Basically, it can be ridden by most, though it’s not strong enough for people in the 100kg category, a weight most bike components are designed to withstand. But pro bike riders never weigh that much, and only rarely weigh even 85kg. As a result, most of the Sky riders can switch to this when they need the climbing edge, which is, of course, for most races.
Otherwise, you see here the same Dogma F10 that is perfect for WorldTour racing. Lots of companies put out comfortable road bikes and aero road bikes. Pinarello sticks with a single road bike that does it all. It’s light, stiff, aero. The handling is precise, but balanced. The bike, thanks to the truncated airfoils and subtle waves in the fork and stays, is comfortable.
The aero shouldn’t be underestimated. So long as a bicycle is moving, it’s facing wind. How the wind moves around the bike can make a measurable difference in your speed. Taking the lessons they learned in the wind tunnel with their Bolide time trial bike, they applied them to their Dogma and adjusted the shapes to work with the accouterment of road bikes, most important of which are water bottles and cables. The down tube is shaped to be faster with bottles on the bike. The cables are run internally to keep them out of the wind, and even the fork tips have “flaps,” little trailing edge pieces of carbon, which smooth the air flow around the quick releases smoothly. They even made aero spacers to put under the stem, and an aero seat post that secures to the frame with a flush clamping mechanism.
If you run Shimano’s latest Di2, your E-Link can be accessible through a port in the down tube above the bottle—no need for a mount under your stem. All the necessary stops and plugs are included. The battery, if you go electronic with Di2 or Campagnolo EPS, goes in the seatpost.
The included aero seatpost itself is 350mm long, with a 25mm setback. The clamp can work with oval or round rails—make sure to heed the torque rating marked on the post. The post is secured to the frame as aerodynamically as possible, with two bolts behind the seat tube, called Twin Force Closure.
The frameset comes with headset, top cap and spacers. There are round and aero options. In both cases, there’s a 15mm top cap, two 10mm spacers, and one 5mm spacer. The aero option is designed to work with Pinarello’s MoST stem and/or integrated bar/stem combo.
The bottom bracket keeps to Pinarello’s preference, Italian-threaded. The frame is, as are all Pinarello’s, UCI-approved.
The Pinarello F10X is the no-holds-barred version of the no-holds barred world-beating frame.
